Queens College Business Department

Problem

For the summer of 2023, I had the pleasure of working with the business department of Queens College for an internship. I worked with two exemplary college assistants: Lisa D’Angelo and Debra Anich. They wanted their own logo that is separate from the standard Queens College emblem. Also, they wanted a flyer and brochure that caters to the current and new college students for the year.

Solution

With very little amount of visual information from the team, I had to come up with a design from scratch. However, I was able to come up with designs that are simple, professional, and timeless. After many flyer and brochure revisions to correct minor errors, the team enjoyed the final assets that promote the business department in the best light.

Design

Application

For the design approach, I came up with a logo mark that went with the main colors of the college (red, white and black). After the presentation, they liked the logo and decided to use it for the LinkedIn and Instagram social media pages. Afterwards, I came up with the image of the city skyline. They wanted more hues of blue since they wanted to market that color for their department. After the revisions, the flyer was sent out to the campus email. I designed the brochure to complement the design of the flyer to keep a sense of visual consistency for it to be recognized by a college student.

Reflection

Final Thoughts

Overall, the brochure, flyer, and social media design was a success. The team was a delight to work with. Also, they were consistent in keeping up with brief meetings and Microsoft Teams messages so that we were all on the same page every step of the way.
